Admission

Many people who care for loved ones with a serious mental illness may have to make difficult decisions regarding whether or not the person should be hospitalised.  You are invited to ask questions about a no-charge assessment. We strive to tailor programs and services to meet the individual needs of each of our patients.

We value our relationship within the community and receive referrals from Doctors, family members and self.

We are available 24 hours a day/7days a week to answer all your questions and guide you step by step.

Initial Assessment:

• Potential adissions are assessed – initially via telephone, then face to face – following referral. The psychiatrist takes the lead in this process and makes the final decision as to the appropriateness of the admission.

Payment Options:

• Admission charges are discussed and agreed with referrer/family member. A 2 weeks deposit is required (will be collected by the cashier at the time of admission) and subsequent payment is made weekly in advance. 

Treatment Plan:

• Arrangements are made to bring the patient to the Retreat (we are able to assist with secure ambulance services if required)
• Our Nurses and Therapists will receive the patient and complete an initial assessment, the admission processes and commence an admission care plan that may include giving emergency treatments to the patient if necessary under the supervision of the Psychiatrist
• A 1:1 staff/keyworker will be allocated to the patient
• A full admission assessment will be conducted by the psychiatrist who will see the patient within 24 hours of admission
• Routine investigations including blood tests and ECG will then be completed
• An admission meeting involving all members of the Multidisciplinary Team will be convened with 72 hours to agree on a treatment plan which will be implemented over the admission period. This will be reviewed at daily morning meetings and the weekly MDT review meetings.
